I haven’t blogged much for a while, mainly because whenever I sit to do so, I find I haven’t really got the energy to do so! So, here are a few random ramblings..
Sick!
My poor Amy hasn’t been at all well. On Sunday evening she was very sick.. and until this evening, she’s not been able to keep anything down. It’s woken her up at night, and she’s looked just miserable. I think that we’ve turned a corner this evening, so I have everything crossed!
Comment Etiquette
Out of interest, if someone new makes a comment on your blog, do you reply to it? I found an interesting new blog the other day, and left a few friendly comments. The blog author seems to respond to people, but hasn’t done so to me. Maybe it’s just me, but it doesn’t feel very welcoming. Is it just me?
Yet Another Stabbing
A few days ago was the sad news of yet another youngster stabbed to death on our streets (and this one was fairly close to where I live). What is it with our youngsters, that they feel the need to carry.. and use.. knives?! The trouble is, this isn’t just in gangs.. it’s ‘normal’ kids getting caught in the middle. I’m getting more and more worried about my young girls growing up, and going out by themselves. Sigh..
There have been a few times when I haven’t responded, but that’s because I’m a very, very, very lazy person! 🙂
I hope your daughter is getting better!!
Hi Sarah.. I didn’t mean responding to every comment left, just people who are new visitors. I guess it’s just me being too sensitive.. 😉
Oh, poor Amy (and you) – hope she’s feeling better soon.
I always try to reply to comments especially new commentors – and like you, feel a bit miffed if my comments are ignored. I guess everyone has different styles though. Still, I’d be more likely to leave a comment in the first place if I thought it would be replied to! (hope that makes sense; loud drilling in the background!)
Hope Amy feels better very soon.
I don’t always reply to all the comments I receive on my blog, but I do to some of them, and if someone asks a question, I tend to make the effort. I wouldn’t worry about it – I sometimes get comments on older posts and don’t reply to those unless they’re specifically asking something.
RE: The stabbing
Yep I am worried as well especially as this one wasn’t even ‘gang’ related. It would seem as if his brother was being picked on and he came to his defence. I am worried about Robbie being out on his own as all it takes is for him to be ‘in the wrong place at the wrong time’ but you can’t wrap them up….
It’s hard being a parent.
It sure is, Nici!
About commenting – I did a blog on this myself. Yes, people should comment back. That’s just the nice thing to do.
Being a parent isn’t easy, esp in the world today. Life was hard 100 years ago, but simple: you farmed, you slept, you woke and did it all over again. Right? How much trouble could a busy person get into? WHO HAD THE TIME?? Not many. Let’s face it, our kids don’t need their imaginations toyed with with the vivid video games they play today…A wise man once said, “There’s no issue that can’t be solved with hard work.” ( paraphrasing big time here ) But it’s true, if you think about it.
Ah, but if you’d been *that* busy, you wouldn’t have had time to write – and that would be a BAD thing! LOL
I could never have existed then. I need hot baths, ( nightly ) yogs, friends in far away places 🙂 and my PC!!
